Term 6 week 4

How to join? An exploration of stitches and wraps

An unusual selection of textured backgrounds were offered this week - I mentioned that tape and glue might not work on them all so I wondered aloud how things might be joined…

We spoke about the holes in the materials, how they might accept pens, how the textures might be highlighted and whether the holier bits might be easier to join…

The fabric leant itself to some stitching explorations and was used as a drawing background - testing which pens took, bled or wiped off. Stuffed sculptures were a really exciting way to use the materials, wrapped with string, wool or elastic bands to hold them in place. As is often the case there was a fair bit of costuming and jewellery too!
