Let’s consider the shapes…

 
 

I often alter the shape of a box or a cup before I offer it, my hope is to give the children the chance to look at regular materials through different eyes or from alternative angles.

In my introduction I spoke about the shapes I had offered, and I asked the children to consider them for a moment or two before they began making, to give themselves a chance to see if anything was sparked by the shapes or forms that they had been given.

This week’s half a box with some interesting folds became many things, but unusually there were quite a few crossovers - birds were prevalent, although no two were the same. Hot air balloons and boats seemed to be being floated too…
