What’s Underneath?

This week we played with sculpture. We spoke about armatures - the framework underneath art - looking at stability and movability, and how work can be made and re-made. We noticed how ideas can be tried and changed, and each time developed.

I offered a small box with black plasticine and wire inside. Everything was useable but there wasn’t much of it. I gave only black plasticine so we could concentrate on the form rather than the details.

This session was really exciting, there was much concentration and many many stories evolving. I pressed the idea of keeping the plasticine off the carpet, I hope this followed when they got home…
